This = charger, referred to in their literature as "the Mother of All Chargers," = has been fantastic. It uses "Delta V" sensing with microprocessor = control. The net effect is that it has a red light while charging, then = cuts back to a trickle when the batteries are charged, giving a green = light. This is identical to the Metz 60 CT-1 charger I use for my = dryfits. It is a great arrangement. I often take spares to a wedding = job, and now they can be easily recharged without a full cycle, often in = fifteen or thirty minutes. Much faster than my Radio Shak 4.5 hour nicad = cycler/charger. In other words, the MAHA charger charges just as long as = needed. The batteries have tremendous capacity. In my Sunpak 544 flash unit, = which is a very high drain application, I can go a whole wedding job on = one set of six AA cells. This is about 10 rolls of 220, or roughly 240 = pictures. The one negative thing I did find was that my ni-cads give = about 10% faster recycle times, 4.5 seconds vs. 5.1 seconds after a full = power flash. So, I carry one holder with Ni-MH, another with Ni-Cad and = that lasts the whole job. Here is the MAHA URL. They have excellent engineering data. http://thomas-distributing.com/maha-mh-aa155.htm Hope you have good luck using these in an EL/M. Peter >>> robertwelch@earthlink.net 10/17/00 10:28PM >>> Hi All, I am thinking about getting a couple of the NiMH batteries for my=20 EL/M at eventually (just purchased one with two good NiCds, but hate=20 the long charging times). Does anyone use these, or has everyone=20 converted to the AA option (or gotten rid of your EL altogether)? My=20 main question is about charging the NiMH batteries. I know that with=20 the old NiCd you have to run them all the way down then charge them=20 for the 14 or 28 hours, while the NiMH don't require you run them=20 down...but that leaves the question of how long to charge them? What=20 is the procedure for this, if anyone knows? It would be great to just=20 charge them up regularly when not in use so that they are always=20 ready, but I'm concerned of overcharging them. I just have the=20 regular charging chord, not the stand alone charger or anything. I'm also wondering if anyone has actually heard of a problem with one=20 of the 9v options, I've seen lot's of hypothetical concerns, but has=20 anyone actually had a camera malfunction due to one. I'm thinking of=20 getting one just as a backup (someone in Canada is selling them for=20 $30 including shipping). Simon >> Whole lotta difference. The major ones: PME51=center-weighted meter giving EV values PME45= spot, center-weighted, choice of modes (aperture or shutter pref), plus incident via external white dome. PME51=interchangeable eyepieces in 1-diopter increments PME45=stepless, locking adjustable diopter eyepiece -2 to +1 PME51=3x magnification PME45=2.5x To me the last point is a drawback. I could see the frame fine with glasses on my old PM5. The extra .5x was a help to focusing, they didn't need to lower it. ------------------------------ End of hasselblad V1 #1022 ************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Hasselblad Users Group Listserv is a public service of Absolute Internet, Inc., which is not responsible for its content.
