Are they even available yet? What is the difference between the Sprintscan 120 at $2695 and the Sprintscan Pro at $3295? Both of these scanners have resolution of 4000 dpi and a Dmax of 4.2. Isn't that as good as a drum scan? -Fritz ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 5 May 2001 19:12:10 -0700 From: "Mehrdad Sadat" To: Subject: RE: New MF Film Scanners Message-ID: The Nikon is not available, and the main diff between the two Polaroid 120 is the extra software (silver fast that comes with the 3295). I just got one. so far my test results have been superb with 35mm film. I will try some 6x6 film later. I scanned and cropped 35mm film and then printed an 8x10 and the results were fantastic. _____________________________________ Thanks, Mehrdad -----Original Message----- From: olenberger [mailto:olenberger@email.msn.com] Sent: Saturday, May 05, 2001 1:26 PM To: hasselblad@kelvin.net Subject: New MF Film Scanners Has anyone tried out either of the new MF film scanners, 1) the Poloroid Sprintscan 120 at $2695 (in the B&H catalog) or 2) the Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 (not in that catalog) for $2895? I've been using a place called digiprintstore.com...very inexpensive and pretty good quality but I STILL I see a difference between my digital prints and prints made from negatives. Clearly there MUST be a cost-effective way to make archival, museum-quality digital prints from files somewhere out there. Any suggestions? Second subject: backdrops. Where can I get "hand painted" (not the usual dyed muslin) backdrops? A place called Scenic Design (I think that's the name) makes some beautiful backdrops (and props) but at $700 each they are out of my price range. Thanks in advance for your help! They use a Fuji Frontier Minilab for the smaller stuff (up to 11x14, I think) and a Chromira for the larger prints (up to 30" by 90 feet). They have done many 30x30 prints for me from 240MB drum scan files (they do the scan). They print on Fuji Crystal Archive paper or (at a higher price) on a polyester film ("Ultrachrome"). If you are going to be sending them a 240MB file, I hope you have DSL or cable modem ;-) To get a good quality print, of course, you have to give them a good quality file. -Fritz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Miano" To: Sent: Saturday, May 05, 2001 7:34 PM Subject: digital prints and backdrops > Any suggestions on inexpensive choices for high quality printing over the > internet?
