The vertical format of course making it perfect. And 36 on a roll to make sure there is a shot with their eyes open. A Polaroid check and boom your ready to shoot, no surprises! The Polaroid check being half the reason I'll use the Hasselblad system nowadays and before. I can't bring myself to anti up the bucks for a 35mm Polaroid back so i use the Hassy to do the Roid but then end up not switching to 35 to do the main shooing. Its to easy and obvious to just switch backs. And I'm lazy! T Max or Delta 100 films really do the trick nowadays. I think less stringently made medium format glass would be much less up to the task. But Hasselblad Zeiss optics should do OK with just that image circle and in comparison to glass which only has to do just that. One thing for sure. You're not going to have problems with lower quality at the edges! So you can get a small transformer from 220VAC->120AC. Of course this is a real coil tranformer not not a simple capacitor voltage divider. Othe option : if your battery chargers have a 12V DC (car) accessory you can get a 12V-DC->120V-AC low power converter in the States which will allow you to recharge from any car (I can't imagine a wedding in year 2001 without a car nearby ;-) ; recharging a few Ni-Cads will not drain the battery out, and you'll be able to use this item back home. I have such an accessory bought from the local equivalent of radio Schack ; I use it when camping with the family. In any case do not forget plug-converters, since Murphy's law ensures that when arriving on the spot somewhere in the middle of nowhere in France you'll missing this damn' small accessory seen in the airport... - regular size non-rechargeable batteries like AAA, AA etc are readily available everywhere. Ni-Cads can now be found in almost all supermarkets. Enjoy your stay in France. Just try it: insert the darkslide, and then remove the insert from the shell. If this is possible without the slide being partly taken out as well, it is inserted the right way round. The ribbed edge/raised handle part should face forward. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 May 2001 15:44:55 -0400 From: "Eugene A. Can someone please enlighten me as to the desirability of a 35mm back for a
Hasselblad. In my case, the large film size of the Hasselblad is the very
reason I use it over my 35mm cameras.

In my case the need for a 35mm back would be a real blessing. I photograph
school and league sports. My company now wants to photograph the individuals
on 35mm and the teams on medium format. If we can use only one camera for
both think of the savings on the photographer not having to carry all that
extra gear. Other then that I guess just something to play around with.

That's why I use both Nikon and Hasselblad.  "Right tool for the right job."  ;-)

I use a Tamrac case with rollers and a handle for the Blad equipment and a Nikon FB8 case which holds 2 bodies with lenses and bayonet mounts for another 3 lenses.  It's not that much more to lug around.  After all, my 4x5 is a LOT bigger and takes up much more space.

I had, for years, a Polaroid back for my Leica R cameras. Polaroid on one R and film in another R. Image was too small to make meaningful evaluations other than grossly over or under exposed. I just got a Polaroid back for my Hassy and I know it will come in handy. Mint model 100. I've been using Polaroid for my 4x5 for however long they have been making Polaroid for 4x5. I've decided not to buy it after checking the other stocks from another branch. All four bodies I've checked have dirty mirrors and that's surprising. I'll be waiting for the next shipment and I don't want to rush myself on this since it's gonna be a huge investment for me. Your comments helped me a lot on my decision. I'll be posting my progress in building this system as soon as I get it. cheers, Mark __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
