I do not want just smear the grease over the balance of the lens. Thanks for the info. Message-ID: <00c401c0ffff$aca064f0$ecd8efd1@joe> It is extremely important to remove all dust and particles on a lens *before* proceeding with the removal of the film accumulation on a lens surface. It is important to remove all solids, including seemingly harmless dust in order not to grind them into the coating of the lens. This is done best with a soft brush (incidentally, it is not camel hair but squirrel or sable). Finally, the lens is wiped with a cloth moistened with a cleaner of some type, preferably one that leaves no residue. Depending on the cleaning frequency, the first step may be omitted, but under no circumstance should the lens be wiped with a dry cloth. Eventually the lens would show cleaning marks, from microscopic to obvious ones. Try looking at your lens coating with a magnifier, you might not like what you see. Message-ID: <109.1e97339.286cf76f@aol.com> Hi, I wanted to thank all the people that gave me insight on my problem with the jammed mag. insert. I sent it out wednesday, Pro-Camera in Ohio--RAY/ diagnosed and fixed it in one day, and I'll have it back tomorrow. Even though I got great leads on east coast repair shops, I'm sending it back to him. He is too good, and the shop is too fair for me to pass up. I compare that shop to the closest one to me in MA--where a semi-retired tech comes in one day a week, takes 7 days to diagnose a problem, and takes 15 days to fix a camera. So does that mean 22 weeks? I am now getting my hasselblad from ohio in a 3 day turnaround with totally cool people. It's relative to how I do other tasks that in the end require patience and abstinence instead of forcing things. The body crank was broken in three parts and I chipped a tooth off one of the magazine cogs because even though there was enough give for me to forward it to the next frame, I was instead forcing pressure because something had happened in the loading of the film. So I got the parts replaced, the body/mag was given a thorough inspection, and now I'm back to the state before this incident, but I've learned my lesson. m. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Jun 2001 23:26:47 EDT From: Stymulus@aol.com To: hasselblad@kelvin.net Subject: more helpful wisdom Message-ID: To all those that have not had this happen! Listen up kids! I had no Idea that there was a piece of film like substance that acts as the light trap for the darkslide. Well, to make it short, this piece wears out and if not replaced each year in your back you may discover a dreadful and catastrophic phenomenon. When pieces of this piece break off they like to replace the image on your prints with a nice black bar. Luckily, in was in the bottom corner of four rolls of my film and I knew the people I shot the wedding for. The moral of the story is: have your backs serviced every year and make sure they replace this piece or deppression my find your door! lucky 13, Brian ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 29 Jun 2001 00:45:38 EDT From: Photovilla@aol.com To: hasselblad@kelvin.net Subject: fs: friday yard sale Message-ID: <10d.2050b24.286d61f2@aol.com> Hey Folks, Hasselblad USA is cleaning the closets out and offering a load of gear to dealers with six month warranties.
