It makes me want to ask another question: You speak of using two panes of glass over the lens, How do you get two filters mounted at once? My Hasselblad bay 60 filters do not accept another filter on top of the first one. I am a surrealist myself with regards to color saturation, I like heavily saturated colors. I tend to polarize skies heavily also, so I like polarized effect in yours. You can screw as many 67mm filters together as you wish. I do the same with B70. I use 77mm filters and a 77 to B70 Hasselblad adapter. Likewise, you can screw as many 77mm filters together as you wish. I use a Hi-Tech 4x4 filter holder for nd or color grads. It has a 67 & 77mm adapter (actually adapters from 55mm to 86mm). It has two slots for glass or resin squares, or in the case of grads, rectangles. So with one 67-B60 or 77-B70 adapter, you can go wild with any combination of regular filters and/or squares. But I wouldn't encourage too many air-to-glass surfaces in front of that fine Zeiss lens. you can get away with a couple, but more than that would be questionable. The image fine detail would degrade. Jim At 03:44 PM 12/17/2001 -0500, mikec wrote: >Fritz, > >Thanks much for the response. Sorry for not letting you know immediately how to decipher the code. You will have read the explanation of the code by Richard Nordin. Your first lens was: > 80C Nr. 2661649 (1960) > code: 1210 The code "1210" however does not quite make sense, since the serialnumber would suggest a date quite some years earlier than October 1969 (1957 + 12). Could it be that it is "0210" (suggesting 1957 + 2 = 1959)? Perhaps the leading "0" was stamped on an edge resulting in it showing only one side, making it look like a "1"? It would be really helpful if we could resolve this matter, so i hope you don't mind me asking if you could please have another look and let me know? Thanks in advance! > 150C Nr. 5082682 (Nordin`s book does not include it, but should be 1970) > code: 1601 Code 1601 suggests January (01) of 1973 (1957 + 16). > I hope this helps. A serialnumber block could well be assigned in one year, while production of the lenses they were assigned to could have been delayed for quite some time, or even stretched out over several years. Our little poll has revealed two 135 mm lenses from the same serialnumber block, but whose date codes show they were made three years apart. Please make sure to state the full set of data: lens type, serial number, date code (have a close look since they can be hard to read), and also whether or not it has T* coating, and chrome or black finish. Maybe you meant to say the west side, because they are indeed at the south tufu turnoff. The photo was taken a few yards off 395, looking west toward the Sierras. Your comment about your Bay 60 filters not accepting another surprises me. I have four Hasselblad Bay 60 filters (softar, proxar, CR3, and polarizer) and all of these but the polarizer will accept another on top, i.e., in bayonet fashion. When I use the polarizer in conjunction with another filter (typically the CR3), I put the other on the lens first, so there is no problem. Does someone know if Hasselblad changed the Bay 60 filter design at some point? -Fritz ----- Original Message ----- From: "mikec" To: Sent: Monday, December 17, 2001 12:44 PM Subject: Re: Re: [HUG] Eastern Sierras > Fritz, > > Thanks much for the response.
