But most of the time in Europe and Asia I like to take my photo gear incognito in bags which look similar to other luggage I am using (usually Rollaboard kind of stuff for the long walks at modern airports). I don't like anything which screams "camera" and don't like to check my cameras. To carry them on, there are space and quantity limits to work around. To convert the carry-on luggage I use Domke inserts and closed-cell foam sheets for a bag which can slip over the handles of the rollaboad. For a rectangular soft-sided briefcase I made up a compartmented insert which fits my gear exactly from 1/4" foamboard material and gaffer's tape (turned out really strong but almost weightless) which drops precisely into the bag. Holds a couple of bodies, 3 backs, 5 lenses, flash, meters, Lee filters and compendium, etc. I used a razor knife to cut the compartments and then tape them together to fit the luggage. Use closed-cell foam sheets on the bottom and sides for extra shock protection. Anyway, you get the idea. Gitzo 226 tripod and FOBA ball head collapses to a short size to fit in the larger checked luggage under the clothes. Have a great trip! Message-ID: <39A59237.AAF5703C@powertech.no> I have been shooting aerial photographs for some years, mostly using a Linhof Aerotechnica 4x5. Mostly due to lack of 1/1000 or better I decided to step down to 70 mm. Bought a 203 and went shopping for used 70 mm magazines. I live in Norway and get hold of ten pcs rather cheap. Some of them was brand new but nobody uses them here so I got even the new ones for $ 150-200. Then the fun started. Out of ten , only two could be used w/o service. Even the new ones would not stop when getting to first picture or other fauls. I sent them of to Hasselblad Sweden for service, but when they returned, only tree was usable. Back to Hasselblad with them again and they returned today, after nearly tree months to and fro. Has anybody same experience with the 70 mm magazines or is it me that have had a pile of bad luck? Ragnar Hansen PS! I got a 40 mm CFE FLE which I do not use for sale. I have only used it twice and it is mint with box and papers . $ 2.700,- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Aug 2000 15:01:36 EDT From: InfinityDT@aol.com To: hasselblad@kelvin.net Subject: Re: SV: Good travel bag Message-ID: In a message dated 8/24/00 11:52:36 AM Eastern Daylight Time, ulf.sjogren@mbox310.swipnet.se writes: << Must it be a camera bag? >> The non-camera-bag-camera-bag trick works while in transit, but once you're out shooting and people see you with a camera(s) around your neck and exchanging camera gear from the bag, it's a camera bag. One note of warning for travelling photographers: be very wary going through carry-on security at airports. Thieves work in pairs, one standing in the "out" lane and another going through the checkpoint. The usual target is laptop computers (but cameras are fair game as well). When the thieves see the target place his bag on the conveyor belt, theif #1 steps ahead through the metal detector, loaded with metal to set it off. As the unsuspecting victim is caught in line while theif #1 has to go back through the detector, theif #2 grabs the bag as it emerges from the x-ray and escapes back out to the street. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Aug 2000 11:58:09 -0700 (PDT) From: "Chris J.
