AIGNER >> Ektar 25 (was is ever available in 120?) was re-named Royal Gold 25 and promptly discontinued about 2 years ago. It was the Kodachrome 25 of print films, sadly lamented by those of us who like to do large prints from 35mm. It was a very contrasty film, though, quite like chromes. I switched to Royal Gold 100 when 25 was no longer available. The Royal 100 has the T-grain formula, and in comparison I don't find it gives up anything to Ektar, plus it is much less contrasty. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2000 09:36:31 -0400 (EDT) From: "C.A. In my experience it is also more contrasty and very slightly less color saturated. It's also more expensive. Royal Gold is available only in 35mm whereas "regular" Gold 100 was (not sure if it still is) available in 120. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2000 11:30:00 -0400 From: kswong@sp.ml.com To: hasselblad@kelvin.net Subject: Re: what film and filter? Message-ID: <200009151530.LAA08407@sophie.sp.ml.com> Thanks Bill for the info. I did try Provia 50 at local racing event. But those speeds were like 50mph on a sharp turn. , I was about 70 feet away from the turn. Pictures came out fine. So, I was able to do 1/500th second with no problem. One thing is that it is very difficult to take a picture on the straight (they do go very very fast; regular car can go 100mph with no problem). Now, at Indy, I'm not sure how far I am away from the turn and weather condtion. BTW, the thread about tripod and head, I have a Gitzo Reporter and a NPC ball head. So far, I have not tripped on it. Hoping not to trip either at F1 racing. I usually added the extra weight on the the handle of the ball using my battery pack (if flashlight is needed) and balance them to prevent shaking. I have put the 350 lens and Hassy body on the tripod and have been taking pictures with no problem. (no fuss show on slides) But I cannot compare to another lister who hikes in the mountains/woods. My hike is between house and car and short distance to the scene. Otherwise, when I am ready for the shot, I flipped the mirror up and then take the picture. But since this racing is very fast, I do not think I have enough time to flip the mirror up. For Lynda B @ Madison, WI, how are the badgers doing? I graduated in '81 and badgers (oops, I mean football) were on the losing streaks. The talk at the time was between OH and U. of M trying to outscore each other by beating WI with the most points. I remembered vaguely the score were like 56 to 0 in Buckeye vs Badgers (but I do know WI can't score more than 10 in that game) .... sorry, got carry away. Regarding photography selection in the capital, yes it is slim as it is a student town. How about getting it from Milwaukee? Have a good weekend. Message-ID: <28.ab19163.26f3d0fb@aol.com> I have heard from many sources that an 86mm filter will thread onto the 40CF or CFE once the hood itself is unscrewed. My question is, has anyone tried this and re-attached the hood into the front of the filter. I like the idea of placing a filter behind the hood because the "normal" way puts the 93mm filter right up front where it's most likely to catch reflections. My concern is will the thickness of a filter cause the hood to vignette? Even if the retaining ring is removed? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2000 14:03:05 -0700 From: Jim Brick To: hasselblad@kelvin.net Subject: Re: 86mm filters on 40CF? However, as soon as I have a chance, I will call the dealer and see what I can do. Then, I will let you all know the result.
